The Eye of the Beholder

March 4 - March 17, 2022
De Haagse Hogeschool, The Hague, NL

The Eye of the Beholder
A project that portrays the diversity of a generation of students; different groups of young people, captured in relation to the building that brings them together. At the same time it shows how this generation expresses itself, manifests itself, how it looks at itself and at the other.

1. SHOOT

I photograph (groups of) students in and around the building of The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
The images will be black and white.

2. EYE-TRACKING

Collaboration with students: selecting images and applying eye-tracking. This makes visible how students look at themselves and each other.

3. ARTWORKS

Production of artwork: three large framed black and white photographs. The data from the eye-tracking is visualized and applied to the images in neon.

4. BOOK

Book publishing: A book of about 80 pages will be published in collaboration with Hans Gremmen/ FW-books. The photographs will be printed in black and white, the eye-tracking graphics will be applied in neon with an additional printing layer.
